Singer Kenny Chesney launches own rum brand

Kenny Chesney’s Blue Chair Bay Rum will launch next monthThe Pirate Flag and You and Tequila singer has launched the brand under his new spirits company Fishbowl Spirits, in collaboration with strategists FLO {thinkery} and Savvy Drinks.
The range is a line of premium, blended Caribbean rums aged in white oak barrels on the Barbados coast, in three expressions: Blue Chair Bay White Rum, Blue Chair Bay Coconut, and Blue Chair Bay Coconut Spiced Rum featuring nutmeg, clove and cinnamon.
The brand will launch in 32 markets across the US from May, and will be a sponsor of Chesney’s No Shoes Nation tour this summer.
“It’s been a real pleasure presenting Kenny’s brand to distributors across the country and seeing their excitement,” said Bob Battipaglia, senior vice president of sales for Fishbowl Spirits.
The line carries an RRP of US$18.99 for a 750ml bottle.
The former husband of actress Renee Zellweger is a well-known lover of spirits, having named an album (Hemingway’s Whisky) and several songs after liquor.
Chesney is the latest celebrity to branch out into the spirits industry, although not many can actually claim to own their own brands.
Some like Xzibit and George Clooney actually have financial stakes in the brands they promote, while Puff Daddy and Ne-Yo can only claim to be ambassadors of their brands.
