Luxardo launches Sangue Morlacco cherry liqueur in UK
By Becky PaskinItalian spirits group Luxardo is gearing up to launch its Sangue Morlacco cherry liqueur in the UK in June.
Luxardo’s Sangue Morlacco cherry liqueur will be launched in the UK in JuneMade from fermented cherry juice from marasca cherries grown in Padua, Italy, Sangue Morlacco is a 30% abv sweet-sour cherry liqueur designed as an after-dinner sipper or cocktail ingredient.
Luxardo blends the fermented cherry juice – a by-product of its traditional Luxardo Maraschino – with sugar and neutral spirit and ages the liquid in large oak vats for two years.
The liqueur is deep, dark red in appearance with a rich taste of sour cherries rounded off with a sweet finish. Traditionally consumed as an after-dinner liqueur in Italy and the Mediterranean, Sangue Morlacco is best known in Western Europe and the US as a cocktail ingredient used most famously in the Singapore Sling.
UK distributor Cellar Trends is rolling out Sangue Morlacco cherry liqueur with an on-trade focus on style bars.
An RRP for the 700ml bottle is yet to be announced.
