Glenfiddich builds 665 bottle Christmas tree

Glenfiddich is marking its 125th anniversary with the creation of a Christmas tree formed from 665 of its bottles.

The Glenfiddich Christmas Tree consists of 655 bottles

Located at the distillery in Dufftown, the tree has been built to commemorate 125 years since its stills first began working on Christmas Day 1887.

It was built by distillery engineers and bottling hall staff under the guidance of Andy Fairgrieve, coordinator of Glenfiddich’s Artists in Residence project.

Stuart Watts, Dufftown site leader at The Glenfiddich Distillery, said: “The bottle tree is the perfect tribute to the 125th birthday of Glenfiddich, the original Christmas spirit.  The fact it was created by our distillery workers makes it even more special.”

News of the Glenfiddich bottle tree comes after a similar one made from 140 empty Jack Daniel’s whiskey barrels was erected in London’s Covent Garden this winter.
