Funkin adds heat to flavoured syrups range
By Melita KielyFunkin has released two new cocktail syrup flavours to cater for those who like spiced or smoky drinks.
Funkin Pro Smoke Syrup and Jalapeño Syrup are available in the UK nowFunkin Jalapeño and Funkin Smoke were inspired by growing consumer interest in spiced and smoky food trends, as reported in the CGA Mixed Drinks Report April 2015.
Funkin Pro Smoked Syrup is made using smoked oak wood, while Funkin Pro Jalapeño Syrup is made using ground jalapeños to give a “fiery, peppery heat”.
“As leaders in cocktail innovation, it’s natural that the newest products to join our single batch syrup target current consumer consumption trends, which include the rise in American and Mexican dishes and cocktails,” said Andrew King, Funkin managing director.
“Spice is a well-established flavour and consumers are experimenting with new and exotic ingredients such as Sriracha, sambal and wasabi, while smoked cocktails are growing in popularity alongside American whiskey and Bourbon cocktails.
“Working with our network of bartenders, Funkin is excited to introduce the on-trade to Funkin Pro Jalapeño and Smoked Syrups ensuring consistency each and every time, giving bartenders free reign to create a variety of inspirational cocktails.”
Funkin Pro Smoked Syrup and Funkin Pro Jalapeño Syrup are available in the UK from May in six 360ml bottles and carry a two-year shelf life.
Last month, Funkin launched Bloody Mary Spicer to help bartenders give the classic cocktail a “kick”.
