Pop band The Script look to release Irish whiskey

Irish pop band The Script are the latest musicians rumoured to be getting into the whisky business, having bought a barrel from Kilbeggan Distillery.

The Script are apparently looking into releasing their own Irish whiskey brand

The band, famous for hit songs Hall of Fame and Breakeven, are reported to have made their love of Irish whiskey into a business.

According to The Daily Star, Guitarist Mark Sheehan said: “We’re into whiskey and I invest in it.”

Lead singer Danny O’Donoghue added: “We even have our own barrel in Kilbeggan. It’s there right by President Obama’s casket.

“We can’t taste it for another three years, so we have been messing around talking about our market. Mine will be called Frisky Whiskey.”

The Script is the latest band to show an interest in marketing their own whisky. Last year folk band Mumford & Sons expressed an interest in creating their own whisky as well, while Athlete bassist Carey Willetts released his own blended whisky Boxes Blend to mark the launch of his solo career.

Musicians and actors moving into the world of spirits is nothing new, as these 10 celebrity-endorsed and owned spirits show.
