By Amy HopkinsBermuda-based spirits giant Bacardi has appointed Michael J. Dolan, former head of IMG Worldwide, as its interim CEO following the retirement of Ed Shirely.
Michael J. Dolan will take over from Ed Shirley as the CEO of Bacardi on an interim basisAfter just years in the role, it was announced last month that Bacardi CEO Shirely had retired.
It has now been announced that Dolan, who most recently served as chairman and CEO of sports, fashion and media company IMG Worldwide, would be acting as Bacardi’s CEO on an interim basis.
Previously, Dolan was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Viacom, Inc. and prior to that was chairman and CEO of Young & Rubicam (Y&R), a global marketing services company. Dolan has sat on Bacardi’s board since 2009.
“We are fortunate to have Mike take on CEO duties as he has an exceptional global business track record, understands powerful brands and knows our company very well as a result of his service on our board,” said Facundo L. Bacardi, chairman of Bacardi.
Dolan’s principal office will be at the Company headquarters in Hamilton, Bermuda, subject to Bermuda Department of Immigration approvals.
It has not yet been announced when a permanent CEO of Bacardi will be found.
