The Macallan launches boutique in London’s Harrods

Edrington-owned whisky brand The Macallan has opened its first UK boutique outside of travel retail.

The boutique opened its doors to the public on Friday 19 June

The Macallan’s creative director, Jaume Ferras, said: “Opening our new boutique at Harrods marks a major milestone for The Macallan, expanding our presence in London and building on our ambitions of delivering standout retail experiences for consumers across the globe.”

The retail concession, which occupies the former Baccarat Bar space on Harrods’ lower-ground floor, will offer a range of rare and limited-edition expressions.

A run of 100 bottles of The Macallan Rare Cask 2026 featuring commemorative illustrations by Spanish artist Javi Aznárez will be offered to visitors on a first-come, first-served basis.

André Lewis, head of buying for food, wine and spirits at Harrods, commented: “We are thrilled to deepen our longstanding relationship with The Macallan through the opening of this exceptional new boutique at Harrods.

“This boutique will offer an extraordinary opportunity to sample and purchase some of the rarest and most celebrated single malts, brought to life through a space that beautifully captures the spirit of the Speyside Estate. We look forward to welcoming whisky connoisseurs and curious visitors alike to discover this remarkable destination within our store.”

Staff for the boutique comprises Edrington and specially-trained Harrods employees, who will provide engraving, gift wrapping and tastings for customers.

Architect Jamie Fobert, who previously worked on the extension to London’s National Portrait Gallery, designed the site’s interior. It features nods to The Macallan’s Speyside home, including oak and copper details and wave motifs said to symbolise the River Spey.

Among the artwork on display is a specially commissioned piece by British pop artist Sir Peter Blake, which depicts Easter Elchies House, the historic centre of The Macallan Estate.

The opening follows The Macallan’s owner, Edrington, announcing a 10% drop in sales for the 2024-2025 financial year. It said this was caused by a ‘challenging economic environment’ and reduced consumer demand.

Despite this, the firm’s chief executive Scott McCroskie asserted that “Edrington’s strategic focus on ultra-premium spirits remains effective.”

This latest retail expansion follows the opening of The Macallan boutique in Heathrow Terminal 5 last year. The Macallan also operates boutiques in Los Angeles, New York, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

The Macallan boutique at Harrods in London’s Knightsbridge will be open from 10am to 9pm daily.
