Luxardo Limoncello slims down for summer
By Miona MadsenItalian producer Luxardo has replaced the frosted bottle for its Limoncello with a new, more eco-friendly design.

The new reeded look showcases a sleek, vertically fluted design that aims to enhance its premium aesthetic while reducing its carbon footprint.
By eliminating the energy-intensive chemical frosting process and optimising the glass’s structural integrity, Luxardo has made a ‘significant’ advance in eco-efficiency.
Nicolò Luxardo, export director of Luxardo and seventh-generation family member, said: “In terms of the redesign, the idea was to refresh the packaging while keeping the bottle immediately recognisable as Luxardo Limoncello. The overall shape and label architecture remain very close to the previous version, but we removed the frosted glass finish and introduced vertical fluting to give the bottle a more premium and textured look.
“An additional benefit of the redesign is improved packaging efficiency. Based on the LCA assessment conducted by our manufacturer, the new bottle shows measurable reductions in several environmental impact indicators compared with the previous version, including lower fossil fuel use, lower CO2 impact, and lower water consumption across all formats and configurations.
“The removal of the frosting process and the optimisation of the glass structure both contributed positively during the evaluation phase, while also simplifying the production process, improving supply chain reliability and helping reduce lead times.”
Crafted using the Luxardo family’s original 1905 recipe, the liquid inside remains the same: an ‘all-natural’ infusion of peels, pulp, and juice from southern Italian lemons, with an ABV of 27%.
The brand hopes to tap into the summer Spritz season by intensifying its focus in the UK.
Seymour Ferreira, CEO of Chimera Brand Development, Luxardo’s UK distributor, commented: “With Summer ’26 upon us, Limoncello Spritz is set to be one of the drinks of the season. The elevated new design of Luxardo Limoncello’s bottle will help the brand stand out both on the back bar and amidst the home bar.”
Luxardo Limoncello is available through selected UK wholesale and retail partners, as well as on-trade partners, with an RRP of £21.99 (US$29).
Earlier this week, Luxardo released a ‘first-of-its-kind’ decaf espresso liqueur exclusively for the US market.
