Founded in 2004 by master distiller Etienne Bouillon, The Owl Distillery is home to Belgian Owl single malt whisky, which is made using traditional methods and locally sourced barley.

The distillery houses the original copper pot stills from the now-closed Caperdonich Distillery, established in 1898 in Speyside, Scotland.

Now available to buy through Auctim, an international platform for digital auctions and sales, the fully operational whisky distillery includes a complete production facility with established infrastructure, featuring a bottling line that enables immediate continuation or expansion of operations.

The Owl Distillery has the capability to produce around one million litres annually.

Along with the site, the distillery is auctioning more than 3,500 maturing 200-litre casks of whisky, including stocks aged up to 20 years.

Due to liquidation, the distillery’s assets are up for grabs as well as selective purchases, including casks, equipment, and other strategic components.

Christophe Moyersoen, CEO of Auctim, commented on the rare opportunity: “The sale of The Owl Distillery represents an extraordinary moment for the European spirits market.

“It is exceptionally rare to find a turnkey operation of this scale, combining high-volume production capacity with a significant stock of premium, aged whisky, available for immediate acquisition.”

The Owl Distillery is the latest European distiller to fall on hard times due to a global shift in consumer demand and tariff uncertainty.

In January, BrewDog announced the closure of its distilling arm, followed by Tilray’s acquisition of the brewing company’s assets in March.

In the US, distilleries like LF Heritage and Rotten Little Bastard Distillery have recently filed for bankruptcy or entered liquidation.
