Born Irish ‘tops’ signature serve

Kirker Greer Spirits has launched a new serve strategy for Born Irish Whiskey to expand the brand’s appeal and attract a new generation of drinkers.

Called Born Irish Tops, the signature drink combines 50ml of Born Irish Whiskey with 150ml of cola, and is topped with stout, creating a refreshing Highball with a subtle creamy finish.

Served over ice in a tulip or half-pint glass, the cocktail features a stout-topped pour that creates a creamy head, reminiscent of a mini-stout.

The signature serve builds on the spirit drink’s recipe, which blends single malt and single grain Irish whiskeys aged in alligator char ex-Bourbon and stout casks.

Richard Ryan, co-founder of Drinksology Kirker Greer, said: “Born Irish has always been about breaking convention and making Irish whiskey feel more inclusive and contemporary.

“Born Irish Tops takes the character of the whiskey and places it in a serve that is instantly recognisable, sociable, and easy to pour. It’s fast to train bartenders on, uncomplicated in busy venues, and feels familiar yet slightly elevated. Perfect for drawing in beer drinkers and new whiskey fans.”

According to Kirker Greer, the launch highlights broader changes in consumer behaviour within the on-trade sector. Stout has experienced a resurgence in the UK, appealing to younger, more diverse audiences while adopting a more modern image.

Additionally, drinkers, especially young adults, are reportedly increasingly seeking visually distinctive beverages and innovative serving styles that deliver a fresh experience while still being easy to order.

Born Irish Tops is said to combine both trends, presenting a drink that resembles a miniature stout but tastes like a whiskey Highball.

The new signature serve will be introduced in select bars and wholesalers across the UK and Ireland.

The rollout will be supported by serve kits, in-venue point of sale (POS) materials, and social media and influencer campaigns aimed at encouraging trial.

Last November, Born Irish landed its first major grocery listing with Tesco stores in the UK.
