Bacardi-owned Dewar’s has released a limited edition Lunar New Year design for its Double Double whisky range, available exclusively in global travel retail (GTR).

The Year of the Fire Horse limited edition commemorates two events: the Lunar New Year and Dewar’s 180th anniversary, which marks its founding by John Dewar in 1846.

Available exclusively in GTR, the box design is part of the brand’s Double Double range, which includes 20-, 26-, and 30-year-old whiskies.

The design is inspired by the fire horse’s qualities of determination, passion, and commitment to excellence, featuring intricate traditional Chinese New Year motifs.

Drawing on the brand’s 180-year heritage and its connection to the Fire Horse, the sleeve features a prancing horse with a fiery mane and tail, set against a red-and-gold palette.

Darragh Ryan, marketing director of Bacardi GTR, said: “As we look to 2026 and the 180th anniversary of Dewar’s, we are delighted to celebrate this significant milestone during Lunar New Year with a vibrant campaign across the globe and particularly in key Asian markets.

“Our enduring dedication to craftsmanship has seen Dewar’s recognised as the world’s most awarded blended Scotch whisky, making it the ideal choice for bringing loved ones together to mark this special occasion and raise a glass to the future.”

Dewar’s Lunar New Year packs are now available at more than 25 global travel retail locations, including key Asian airport hubs such as Kuala Lumpur, Singapore Changi, and Taiwan Taoyuan.

In February 2025, the China Tourism Academy reported that approximately 3.78 million outbound trips were taken during the Chinese New Year holiday period. Of these, about 907,600 trips were made to destinations outside of Greater China.

Travel during the 2026 CNY holiday period is expected to be at a similar level.

Last year, Dewar’s launched a 21-year-old blend finished in casks toasted with hot lava stones from Iceland.

The whisky was ranked 16th in The Spirits Business’s Top 50 Innovative Spirits Launches of 2025.
