Lochlea debuts 7YO whisky
By Miona MadsenIndependent Scottish distillery Lochlea has unveiled its oldest expression to date: a limited edition seven-year-old single estate whisky.

The edition is the distillery’s third age-statement release, following a five-year-old whisky in 2024 and a six-year-old in 2025.
Distilled in 2018, the distillery’s first year of operation, the single malt was drawn from seven distinct first-fill Bourbon casks.
Darren McCormick, distillery manager of Lochlea, said: “Each of the seven hand-selected first-fill Bourbon casks brings something different, from tropical fruits to buttery pastry notes, and marrying them together has created a whisky that feels both indulgent and beautifully balanced.”
“Reaching seven years of maturation is a huge moment for us as a young distillery. These casks have been quietly resting in our warehouses since 2018, and the transformation over time has been incredible to watch.
“Our seven-year-old is the richest, creamiest and most complex age statement we’ve released so far, yet it still carries that unmistakable Lochlea fruitiness.”
Bottled non-chill-filtered at 50% ABV, the single estate whisky offers an aroma of stewed apples, joined on the palate by notes of tropical fruits, fresh oak, buttery pastry, cereal, spice, and tart green apple slices.
The limited release will be available starting 23 January from whisky specialists and independent retailers throughout the UK and international markets, with a recommended retail price of £90 (US$121).
In August last year, Lochlea launched its first core range of four single malt whiskies.
