Denver bar serves up frozen Ramos Gin Fizz on a plate
By Rupert HohwielerA cocktail bar with rotating themes called Adventure Time has opened in Denver, beginning with the Cyberpunk-inspired ‘Neon City’.

Founded by husband-and-wife duo Sam and Laura Wood, Adventure Time is located in the city’s Baker neighborhood.
The bar changes in theme to immerse guests in different environments with the first being ‘Neon City’.
Inspired by the worlds of Blade Runner, Akira and The Matrix, Neon City is described as a futuristic cyberpunk space glowing with plasma walls, holograms trimmed in neon and interactive elements. A custom playlist is also curated to fit the theme.
Sam Wood, who launched LA arcade-themed bar The One Up and has two decades of experience in the bar industry, explained the concept: “Adventure Time Bar is about creating a true escape. Every theme is a brand-new adventure. That sense of wonder extends to every detail, from the music and design to what’s in your glass.”
The cocktail programme also ties in with the theme where the menu balances ‘playful nostalgia’ with techniques like centrifugal clarifications and forced carbonation. The drinks are often presented creatively with extravagant garnishes.
“The cocktails don’t just complement the world, they’re central to the story,” Wood added.
Among the creations is a French onion soup-inspired Dirty Martini called the Corop-tini, which is made with buttermilk-clarified bouillon-washed vodka, savory herb-infused dry vermouth and onion caramel. It is then topped with torched brioche foam and a Parmesan tuile.

Another highlighted drink is the Vida Mezcal, which is made with house-made miso syrup, acidified pineapple, house-made ginger bitters and washed with lactose-free milk.
Lucy’s Dream, meanwhile, is described as a ‘futuristic take on a Ramos Gin Fizz’ and is served on a plate with a knife and fork. The cocktail contains butterfly pea blossom gin, lime, egg, cream and orange bitters, frozen with an iSi whipper into liquid nitrogen.
Many of the cocktails also take non-alcoholic form to accommodate Dry January partakers and beyond, as well as zero-proof alternatives that use functional botanicals.
Laura Wood said: “Every drink is meant to spark joy and surprise. We love playing around with nostalgia, those familiar flavors and memories, but presenting them in a way that feels brand new.”
Adventure Time offers 90-minute sittings from 6-8pm Thursday, as well as a 10pm seating on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are needed for entry with a welcome cocktail and souvenir included in the reservation.
New themes will be revealed throughout the year.
In other Denver news, the city’s cocktail also welcomed The Peach Crease Club recently.
