Lopez Real Mezcal heads to Europe
By Miona MadsenFamily-owned mezcal brand Lopez Real has partnered with distributor AliasSmith to launch in Europe.

The López family has produced mezcal in Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca, since 1956.
Currently, Sabina Mateo, who married the late Mario López, and their sons, Antonio and Adolfo López, manage the Casa López Distillery.
The family is involved in every aspect of production, from cultivating their own agaves to distilling, bottling, and managing exports directly. This hands-on approach is said to ensure complete transparency and authenticity from field to glass.
Lopez Real Mezcal will launch in Italy and Spain, followed by the UK, France, and other countries in partnership with Stockholm-based importer AliasSmith.
Adolfo, global director of Casa López, said: “The arrival of Lopez Real in Europe fills us with pride. We want European consumers to experience an authentic mezcal made with heart, heritage, and respect for tradition.”
Lopez Real enters Europe targeting the craft and premium mezcal segment. The brand’s current range features espadín, tobalá, and cuishe mezcals.
With initiatives led by AliasSmith, Lopez Real aims to promote mezcal culture throughout Europe by focusing on education, tastings, and collaborations with bartenders and venues that prioritise authenticity and craftsmanship.
AliasSmith specialises in importing and distributing premium agave spirits. Its portfolio includes brands such as Santo Cuviso Lechuguilla, non-alcoholic Almave, Arette Tequila, Mezcal Trascendente, and Perra Suerte.
