Gabriel Boudier launches vegetal Sweet Woodruff liqueur
By Miona MadsenMaison Gabriel Boudier has launched a sweet woodruff-flavoured liqueur created by Ashley Haines, this year’s winner of the Wizard Award Competition.

The liqueur is described as ‘elegant with a unique floral signature’. It features sweet woodruff, an undergrowth flower that displays notes of freshly cut grass, sweet almond, and biscuits.
Haines took home the UK Gabriel Boudier Wizard Award in March 2025 for the unique flavour after demonstrating “impressive creation skill, utilising a widely available yet under-appreciated plant”.
Launched in 2015 by French producer Gabriel Boudier, the Wizard Award Competition encourages UK-based bartenders to create an original liqueur or crème that is not commercially available and uses only natural and ethically sourced ingredients.
The latest bartender-created liqueur is produced by combining two preparations: woodruff, macerated for five weeks in a hydroalcoholic solution, and a green tea infusion. The two components are blended with alcohol, water, and cold-dissolved sugar to maintain the flavours.
Offered at 22% ABV in 500ml bottles, the Sweet Woodruff liqueur is said to open new creative horizons for bartenders.
It can be used in cocktails as well as in culinary pairings – enhancing desserts, pastries, and savoury dishes.
The new creation will be available in the UK through Emporia Brands and in France from the brand’s online store. It is priced at €19 (US$22).
