Matthew McConaughey unveils Pantalones Extra Añejo
By Rupert HohwielerTequila brand Pantalones, co-founded by Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey, has released its first extra añejo expression.

The extra añejo joins a blanco, reposado and añejo in the brand’s lineup.
McConaughey’s version of the expression, which needs to be aged for a minimum of three years, was rested in Texan Bourbon barrels.
He said: “It’s a limited amount, aged for 36 months [then finished in Texas Bourbon barrels]. It’s like your favourite couch with just a little extra cushion in it.”
The brand cited a sustained increase in demand for premium and aged expressions, with IWSR data showing a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) rise of 6% for the super-premium Tequila segment from 2024-2029.
Pantalones’ co-founder and chairman, Andrew T Chrisomalis, said: “This extra añejo takes everything people love about Pantalones – the smoothness, the craftsmanship, the fun – and turns it up a notch. It’s the perfect sip for the holidays, at an affordable price, whether you’re raising a glass or wrapping a bottle.”
The Tequila’s profile is said to bring layers of rich agave, toasted oak, dark chocolate. Its bottle, meanwhile, features a metal belt buckle–inspired label, which the brand said nods to its ‘playful, irreverent spirit’.
Pantalones Organic Extra Añejo is priced at US$99.99 and can be found on the brand’s online store and at retailers in the US, including ABC Fine Wine & Spirits, BevMo, GoPuff, Lee’s, Spec’s, Total Wine & More, Twin Liquors, Warehouse Wine & Spirits.
The Texas-born actor launched the brand in October 2023 with his wife Camila McConaughey. Upon the launch, the couple said: “The world doesn’t need another celebrity Tequila, but Tequila sure could use a kick in the pants.”
Last month, they looked back on McConaughey’s infamous naked bongos arrest in a campaign advert for the brand.
