Press Club creates Oasis-themed menu

Washington DC bar Press Club has unveiled the latest edition of its Play List tasting menu, which features a curated flight of cocktails and bar bites inspired by Oasis’ album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?

The album celebrated its 30th anniversary last week, and the band’s reunion tour continues through November.

Press Club’s menu is said to play on the album’s themes of ‘longing, salvation, and optimism’, while the Gallagher brothers’ ‘90s britpop aesthetic’.

Cocktails include the Some Might Say, a reimagined whisky highball featuring an apple cordial made of apples from Blackrock Orchard and Jack Daniel’s. The Tennessee whiskey is a nod to Liam Gallagher’s quote: “You only drink Jack Daniel’s when you’re with us.”

Meanwhile, the Wonderwall is a riff on the Breakfast Martini, featuring Caravedo Pisco, Earl Grey tea, Moscatel, orange and lime. The cocktail features different expressions of citrus grown in ‘oasis-like climates’.

Don’t Look Back in Anger aims to be ‘equal parts nostalgic and bold’, like the song. The bar washes Hennessy VSOP with yoghurt, as if ‘smoothing out the Gallagher brothers’ rough edges’. This is paired with Jamaican rum and Rooibos tea – representing a ‘wild and funky’ guitar riff – as well as dry curaçao and pomegranate cordial.

Noel Gallagher described his song Champagne Supernova as “probably as psychedelic as I’ll ever get”. To match this, Press Club created a Manhattan variation as ‘dreamy and ethereal’ as the song, featuring rye whiskey, Averna, Cocchi Torino, pear brandy, fig and Champagne acid.

Previous Play List menus have been inspired by Daft Punk’s Discovery and the Arctic Monkeys’ AM.

Press Club also offers the Track List menu, comprising 12 à la carte cocktails.
