Ukiyo expands Sainsbury’s listing

Kirker Greer Spirits has secured shelf space for Ukiyo Tokyo Dry Gin in supermarket Sainsbury’s.

Ukiyo Tokyo Dry Gin joins Ukiyo Blossom Gin
The brand’s Tokyo Dry Gin will be available at Sainsbury’s in the UK from mid-September

Following the launch of Ukiyo Blossom Gin at Sainsbury’s, the brand will enhance its retail presence by introducing Tokyo Dry Gin to the UK retailer’s product range from mid-September.

Ryan McFarland, chief commercial and strategy officer at Drinksology Kirker Greer, said: “Securing a second listing for Ukiyo in Sainsbury’s is an important step for the brand in the UK. Blossom Gin has already built strong traction with consumers, and the introduction of Tokyo Dry Gin broadens the appeal.

“We see this as further evidence of the appetite for Japanese-inspired spirits in the market.”

Ukiyo Tokyo Dry Gin combines juniper with Japanese botanicals, and is described as a versatile, crisp gin at 40% ABV that works well in classic cocktails and long drinks.

Jack Banks, senior spirits buyer at Sainsbury’s, said: “Premium gin continues to be one of the most dynamic areas of the spirits category, and we are committed to offering our customers a range that reflects both quality and innovation.

“Ukiyo Blossom Gin has been a strong addition to our shelves, and we are excited to expand the portfolio with Ukiyo Tokyo Dry Gin.

“Its refined flavour and striking presentation are sure to appeal to shoppers looking for something new and distinctive.”

Ukiyo Tokyo Dry Gin will be available nationwide in Sainsbury’s from 15 October at £32 (US$43), with a promotional price of £26 (US$35).

Earlier this year, Kirker Greer secured a Co-op listing in 210 stores for Ukiyo Yuzu Gin and a listing in more than 200 Waitrose stores for Blossom Gin.

Last month, the company launched a premium blended Irish whiskey collection inspired by the seasons.
