GlenAllachie unveils second Sinteis whisky

Speyside distillery The GlenAllachie has launched the second edition of its Sinteis Series, which focuses on dual maturation.

Sinteis Series, which debuted in April this year, is dedicated to the exploitation of dual maturation, combining virgin oak and traditional Sherry casks.

Named after the Scottish Gaelic word for synthesis, the Sinteis Series features the tagline ‘Two distinct casks. One harmonious synthesis.’ It was created by industry veteran and master distiller of The GlenAllachie, Billy Walker.

Walker said: “The Sinteis Series is a celebration of creativity at the very heart of whisky making, a chance to explore how different casks, when thoughtfully combined, can create something truly remarkable.”

The second expression was distilled in 2015 and aged in Scottish virgin oak and oloroso Sherry casks.

Bottled at cask strength with an ABV of 58.2%, the single malt presents a bouquet of aromas, including mocha, grilled honeycomb, berries, cinnamon butter, and toasted lemon peel. On the palate, it reveals flavours of heather honey, citrus, baking spices, gingersnaps, and poached orchard fruits.

Walker commented on the new release: “With Part II, I was inspired to shine a light on the character of Scottish virgin oak – a rare and distinctive choice in maturation. By pairing its bold personality with the familiar depth of oloroso Sherry casks, I wanted to craft a whisky that feels both adventurous and reassuringly timeless.

“This second release bursts with layers of indulgent flavour – the vanilla sweetness, honeycomb richness and mocha depth of virgin oak weaving seamlessly with the warm spice and luscious fruit of oloroso Sherry. It’s a whisky that speaks to both curiosity and comfort.”

Sinteis Part ll is presented in a packaging created by Scottish designer Kayley Barbour, reflecting the fusion of multiple wood types.

The GlenAllachie Sinteis Part ll was launched on 21 August at the distillery and on its website. The expression will be available globally in the upcoming weeks.

Earlier this month, The GlenAllachie announced plans to reduce its energy use by more than 50% after installing ‘first-of-its-kind’ technology at the distillery.

At The Scotch Whisky Masters 2025, The GlenAllachie Distillers Company took home a Master medal for Meikle Toir The Sherry One, as well as four Golds.
