Violet Oon Singapore revamps drinks offer

Proof Creative has worked with chef Violet Oon to create a cocktail offering based on ‘the soul of Peranakan cuisine and Singapore’s spirit’.

The restaurant opened in April 2025. The team say every dish and drink is rooted in ‘time-honoured recipes’, showcasing native flavours and seasonal produce.

The new cocktail menu is divided into two collections: Rooted and Glam Singapura.

The former explores ‘nostalgic references’ through drinks like the Royal Rempah Club. This riff on a Daiquiri features rempah spices, pomelo and Planteray Cut & Dry.

Meanwhile, Midnight Straits is inspired by kopi gao, a strong coffee made with condensed milk. The serve features candlenut orgeat and Lost Irish whiskey.

In the Glam Singapura section, drinks offer ‘whimsy and wit’. Ho Mia is a Negroni accented with laksa, lemongrass and Rojak Gin, while the Violet Bloom is made with Brass Lion Butterfly Pea Gin, a Singaporean gin that is naturally colour-changing.

Violet Oon Singapore will also offer a range of zero-ABV cocktails, including Tekka Spice, which is inspired by Little India’s Tekka Centre and blends vanilla yoghurt, spiced calamansi, and sarsaparilla.

Meanwhile, the Swee Chilli Mule features ginger beer and Violet Oon’s housemade chilli sauce.

Karen Fu, creative consultant for Proof Creative, said: “With profound respect for trailblazer chef Violet and the iconic Violet Oon group, Proof Creative is keenly aware of the great honour and responsibility of preserving Peranakan style in cocktail form.

“The techniques and integration of flavours echo those that chef Violet has championed over the years.”
