Three Chord Bourbon appoints CEO
Michael Nanula will oversee all aspects of the business as he steps into the CEO role at Three Chord Bourbon, based in Buffalo, New York.

As CEO, Nanula will manage raising capital and the activities of his four departmental directors. Nanula previously served as Three Chord’s chief commercial officer (COO), driving business growth and profitability.
The appointment was made by his predecessor, Paul Nanula, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and chairman of the Three Chord board, Neil Giraldo, and the rest of the company’s board of directors.
“Michael, who is like a son to me and truly part of my family, possesses exceptional drive, ambition, creativity, and determination to succeed,” Giraldo said. “I’m absolutely thrilled that he has taken on this position.”
Giraldo founded Three Chord in April 2017 launching its first product, a blended Bourbon, the following year. Since its founding, Paul Nanula has served as CEO, with Michael joining the company in August 2017, acting as senior director of marketing in addition to his role of COO.
Paul noted that Michael has been “key” to the success of the business, explaining that he was the “ideal choice” for CEO due to his “strategic thinking and commitment to excellence”.
“Being on this journey with this incredible team has been nothing short of amazing,” Michael added. “We have so many exciting things in the works and have nothing but optimism for the future as we move into the next phase.”
In August 2024, Three Chord released a whiskey finished with toasted peach wood, inspired by American rockers the Allman Brothers Band.
