Drizly workers now able to claim back lost tips
By Rupert HohwielerNew York delivery drivers who worked for defunct alcohol platform Drizly are now able to apply for their restitution, which totals US$4 million in lost tips.

It was revealed in December that Drizly owed US$4m to delivery workers employed by liquor stores in New York that used the platform, which closed last year.
New York attorney general Letitia James revealed that more than 8,300 Drizly workers had tips withheld from them, following an investigation carried out by her and the New York Office of the Attorney General (OAG). It was also found that gratuities were kept by Drizly even after the service had encouraged its customers to leave them, plus the automatic 10% tip at checkout.
Rather than going to the drivers as consumers expected, the tips instead went to store owners for distribution, which the investigation found ‘did not always happen’.
The platform, previously owned by Uber, ended its service in March 2024.
The portal for drivers to recover their money is now open, with claims encouraged to be submitted by 15 July 2025.
James said: “Delivery workers are essential to our communities and deserve to be compensated fairly.
“I was proud to secure this settlement to ensure that those who were shortchanged by Drizly’s practices would receive the tips they rightfully earned. I urge all eligible workers to file their claims and get the money that they are owed.”
The funds will be distributed evenly between drivers who delivered for Drizly-used stores between 1 January 2018 and 31 August 2023.
An outside company called Simpluris has been hired to manage the payments from the settlement fund.
Claims can be filed on www.NYDrizlySettlement.com.
James also urged delivery workers to be wary of potential scams related to the settlement.
The OAG added that ‘individuals should not share their personal or financial information with anyone offering to assist them with filing a claim’.
