Irish Distillers has launched a month-long campaign for its Spot Whiskey brand in London to celebrate World Art Day (15 April).

Londoners can enjoy cocktails made with pot still Irish whiskeys this month

The Spot Whiskey range consists of rare single pot still whiskeys produced by Irish Distillers at the Midleton Distillery in Cork, Ireland. The line includes Green Spot, Yellow Spot, Blue Spot, Red Spot and Gold Spot.

World Art Day took place at the beginning of the week with art closely linked to Spot Whiskey’s roots, where it claims to have pioneered a ‘distinctive’ labelling system, marking its casks with paint to indicate the whiskey’s age.

For the campaign, Irish Distillers has developed cocktails made with Spot Whiskey at various establishments in London, including Daffodil Mulligan and The George.

For the art portion of the campaign, the producer has also teamed up with London’s leading art studios for activities in painting and pottery.

Starting with Daffodil Mulligan and Gibney’s, both venues have featured three Spot Whiskey serves on their drink menus for the month. These include include Clubs of Cork, which blends Red Spot with fresh raspberries, dry vermouth, lemon and egg whites, and the Buí agus Bán, which is described as a ‘refined mix’ of Yellow Spot, Amontillado Sherry and salted honey, ‘offering a nutty depth and a touch of sweetness’.

In addition, for the sweet toothed, both venues are also offering a whiskey-infused dessert – soft serve ice-cream infused with Yellow Spot Whiskey with a salted caramel crumb.

Other London venues with Spot Whiskey cocktails on their menus for April include The George in Fitzrovia, Bluebird Chelsea; Bentley’s, also in Chelsea; Corrigan’s; Homeboy; and 69 Colebrooke Row.

Art classes

For the art-curious, there will be a hand-building workshop where guests can make their own mugs, plates and small sculptures, while enjoying Spot Whiskey cocktails. Titled ‘BYOB Fun Pottery Friday’, the session takes place at community-focused pottery studio, Mustang Victoria, and is priced at £50 (US$66).

Meanwhile, in Holborn, painters can take part in a step-by-step session at Pop Up Painting, recreating London’s skyline (inspired by Rebecca Hunter’s painting), while also sipping Spot Whiskey cocktails. The session is located at London Art Bar and is priced at £38 (US$50).

Both activities will take place on the night of Friday 27 April.

Irish Distillers the Irish whiskey division of Pernod Ricard recently halted production its Midleton Distillery until the summer.

The move was said to support the sustainable global growth of its portfolio of Irish whiskeys, and improve operational efficiency.
