Uncle Nearest launches membership club

The Fifty-Six Society from Tennessee whiskey brand Uncle Nearest offers discounts, and access to rare bottles and in-person experiences.

Membership includes an invitation to a special welcome event at the distillery on 17 May

Shelbyville, Tennessee-based Uncle Nearest has established its first members club known as The Fifty Six Society, named after Nearest Green purportedly perfected the Lincoln Country Process of charcoal filtration.

During the five-week application period, the brand received interest from more than 3,000 individuals, and filled all available memberships in just under two weeks.

“This overwhelming response and early success of The Fifty-Six Society has been nothing short of extraordinary,” chief marketing officer Brielle Caruso said. “We knew there was a deep appreciation for Nearest Green Distillery and our whiskey, but to see so many join this programme so quickly is truly amazing.”

There are two membership options, an individual plan for US$299 per quarter and a family plan for two individuals (US$425 per quarter).

Perks include ticket(s) to two in-person events a year, access to virtual events, four member-exclusive bottles per year, early access to purchase distillery-exclusive bottles, unlimited tours and tastings at the Nelson Green Distillery, vote(s) during society town hall virtual events, 20% off merchandise at the retail store, and 25% off Legacy Tour ticket(s).

Members will also receive an invitation to a special welcome event on 17 May at the distillery in Shelbyville that will include a blending session with master blender Victoria Eady Butler.

“For the first time ever, we’re able to invite our whiskey family into the heart of what we do – offering them an insider’s look at our craft and our heritage,” Caruso added.

In March, Uncle Nearest added former-Jack Daniel’s president Mark McCallum to its board of directors.
