Filming begins on ‘world’s first’ gin movie

London-based initiative A World of Gin has commenced filming the “first ever” feature-length film on gin, titled Gin: The Movie.

Gin: The Movie will document a gin journey across the UK

Working closely with production company Boilerhouse Video Unit, the film will document a gin journey across the UK, uncovering a range of diverse brands.

Gin: The Movie will be shot throughout August, and will be followed by a year-long screening tour, working with independent cinemas and venues across the country.

Starting with Brighton Gin in East Sussex, the film will travel across the country to the hometowns of Hayman’s Gin, Williams Gin, Mason’s Gin, Edinburgh Gin and Shetland Reel Gin – with an additional stop off at Double Dutch Mixers to talk tonic.

Audiences will receive tasting flights to sample the gins as each brand’s story is laid out on the big screen through a “5D viewing experience”.

Nik Koster, from A World of Gin, said: “Our aim with A World of Gin is to change the way consumers interact with brands and do something different.”

In April, A World of Gin launched Ginder – a weekend event helped hopeful gin lovers find their perfect gin and tonic match.

“Our first event, the sell-out Ginder, was proof there is a lot of demand for this. We’ve hand-picked the brands we’re working with and we’re very excited to take viewers on this journey,” added Koster.

Screenings will begin in late September and will run for 12 months.
