Ryan Reynolds launches limited edition gin
Actor Ryan Reynolds has introduced a limited edition gin to celebrate Wrexham Association Football Club (AFC)’s new away-game shirts.
Aviation American Gin Away Edition is the second limited release gin to come from the Deadpool actor’s partnership with Wrexham AFC, with a label in a shade of green to match the club’s latest away-game shirt colour.
Wrexham AFC executive director Humphrey Ker said: “We were absolutely delighted to extend our partnership with our official gin partner, Aviation American Gin, and the new Away Edition bottles are a small part of what supporters can look forward to as the partnership develops this season.”
Aside from its colour, the Away Edition differs from the flagship bottle as it features an AFC logo on its label.
Reynolds is a co-owner of Wrexham AFC along with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Rob McElhenney, whose favourite NFL team – the Philadelphia Eagles – also play in the bottle’s new shade of green.
Ker added: “The new away shirt, pairing Rob’s love of Wrexham AFC and Philadelphia Eagles, looks great and we hope fans of legal drinking age will raise a glass to toast what we all hope will be a very exciting season on and off the pitch.”
The neck of the bottle also pays tribute to McElhenney’s TV success, with ‘Always Sunny in…’ displayed on the collar.
Gareth Williams, brand director for Aviation Gin in Western Europe, said: “When Wrexham told us of their plans to have a Philly green inspired away shirt in honour of co-chairman Rob McElhenney, ourselves and Ryan thought it only right to bring the fans an ‘Away Edition’ of Wrexham Aviation Gin.
“We look forward to seeing all fans enjoying the Away Edition, in their fantastic new Philly Green shirts!”
Both the Wrexham AFC away game shirts and the new bottles are available to buy from tomorrow (28 July).
Crafted in Portland, Oregon, the gin is described as ‘smooth’, with notes of juniper, citrus and floral.
The 42% ABV gin can be purchased for RRP £32 (US$44.12) from shop.wrexhamafc.co.uk.
The bottling based on the home team kit design was launched in February 2021, followed by the Wrexham AFC kit receiving an Aviation sponsorship makeover earlier this month.
Last year, Diageo bought Davos Brands, which co-owns Aviation Gin with Reynolds, in a deal worth up to US$610 million.
