The Irish whiskey will now be available through Volume Spirits (Germany), CBH (France), Vienna Distribution (Austria), Tudor House (Poland) and Silverbogen (Switzerland).

Halewood said Samuel Gelston’s had been ‘well received’ by customers in the UK.

Lawrence Williamson, managing director, Western Europe, LAC and Canada, Halewood Artisanal Spirits, said: “The Samuel Gelston’s brand is a quality whiskey offering with strong heritage and provenance, which we know appeals to our European customer base.

“We know that our new distribution partners are really engaged with the Samuel Gelston’s offer and we look forward to working together to introduce the range to a wider customer base, and ultimately growing this exciting brand on a global scale.”

The brand was established in Belfast in the 1830s, and purchased by Harry Neill in 1869.

The whiskey has remained in the Neill family for five generations and was revived by Harry Neill’s great-great-grandson, Johnny Neill.

The Samuel Gelston’s Irish whiskey range includes the core blended whiskey, a single malt, a single pot still, a five-year-old, 10-year-old, 15-year-old and 26-year-old.

In November last year, Samuel Gelston’s released a single pot still expression matured in Jurassic Park star Sam Neill’s Pinot Noir casks.
