Wildcat Gin adds passionfruit flavour to range

Scottish producer Whyte & Mackay has expanded its Wildcat Gin range with the launch of a passionfruit flavour.

Wildcat Passion is recommended mixed with lemonade

The Scotch whisky producer joined the gin category in October 2018 with the launch of Wildcat Gin.

Wildcat Passion joins the Wildcat range, which includes the blackberry-flavoured Wildcat Bramble and the core Wildcat Gin.

Bottled at 37.5% ABV, the new expression offers “zesty orange and passionfruit” on the palate. It is recommended mixed with lemonade or used as the base for a Porn Star Martini cocktail.

The launch will be supported by a PR and and social media marketing campaign that focuses on the idea “that our passions define who we are”.

The brand has expanded its partnership with LGBTQ+ collective Sink the Pink to include the launch of the Pink Noise project, which seeks to provide funding to LGBTQ+ artists that have been impacted by the Covid-19 crisis.

Wildcat Gin will give a 700ml bottle of its new flavour to the first 500 people who pledge £15 (US$19) or more to the Pink Noise project. With the donations, Pink Noise will commission new creative work across a variety of mediums to reflect the diversity of talent in the community.

Kenny Nicholson, head of modern spirits at Whyte & Mackay, said: “Wildcat Passion is the latest addition to the Wildcat range, designed specifically to meet consumer demand for new, fun flavours of gin for up-tempo, after dark occasions.

“During this time of uncertainty, with the launch of Passion, we wanted to pledge our support to the LGBTQ+ community and help them continue to be their fantastic selves.

“By joining forces with our long-time friends at Sink The Pink, we’re giving people the chance to support their favourite queer artists and raise a glass to everything they do to keep the UK’s queer nightlife alive.”

Wildcat Passion is available to buy from Tesco stores across the UK, priced at £26 (US$33) per 700ml bottle.
