Illva Saronno CEO Augusto Reina dies

Augusto Reina, CEO of Italian group Illva Saronno, was a “great innovator”A statement from Italian drinks group Illva Saronno said Reina died on Wednesday night (19 February) after his health had taken a turn for the worse over the last few months.
Born on 11 June 1940, Italian industrialist Reina was described as a “great innovator” who transformed the family-run Italian company into a global business.
He was also noted for his “versatile interests and tastes” and had a deep appreciation and enthusiasm for classical music, contemporary art, gliding and amateur soccer.
The statement said: “We are proud of our past yet we are equally aware we must look ahead, for our tomorrow entails both great opportunities and great responsibilities.”
The group said these words “capture the heart and soul of an outstanding industrialist and of a man in love with his work” as well as the company’s spirit.
Since August, the Reina family has entrusted the running of the business to the executive management team, the statement continued.
The family and management team said it would “carry forward” Reina’s passion for his work and his “sense of courage and optimism” into the future.
From today (21 February), Illva Saronno will close all of its plants and offices for mourning.
The funeral will take place tomorrow (22 January) at 2.30pm CET at Santuario Beata Vergine dei Miracoli in Saronno, Italy.
