Omakase-style cocktail experience launches

London restaurant and bar Machiya has launched an omakase-style tasting experience during which the bartender will create four bespoke cocktails for each guest.

Guests at Machiya Bar’s Cocktail Omakase experience will sample four cocktails

Said to be London’s first cocktail omakase experience, the bar’s new offering follows a similar format to Japanese omakase dining, where a chef creates a unique multi-course meal for each diner.

The new experience is said to encourage drinkers to “let the fate of their cocktails lie in the hands of Machiya Bar’s mixologists” as the bar team is left to “improvise and surprise” with four cocktails created for each drinker.

Launching tomorrow (3 December), Machiya Bar’s Cocktail Omakase lasts for one and a half hours and throughout the experience guests will be able to sample four bespoke cocktails.

Priced at £40 (US$51) per person, the experience is available to book Tuesday-Thursday from 6pm to 9pm.

Cocktail bars have increasingly looked to create experiences for their guests, with a prison-inspired venue encouraging imbibers to “smuggle” in their own spirits and a host of bars and restaurants launching cocktail-and-food pairing menus.

Recently, bars and venues have also sought to further educate consumers about what they are drinking with the launch of a host of workshops and masterclasses.
