Tomintoul and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club bottle blend

Speyside distillery Tomintoul has created a 12-year-old Scotch whisky blend with London’s Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club to mark the venue’s 60^th anniversary.

Iain Forteath, Tomintoul blender and global brand ambassador, worked with the Ronnie Scott’s Allstars band to create the “complex and well-rounded” whisky.

The blend uses single malt from Tomintoul Distillery, Bourbon cask-aged whisky to give a “sweet and creamy base”, and Sherry cask-matured liquid to add “sweet dried fruit layers”.

A small amount of “heavily peated” Tomintoul – Old Ballantruan – is also added to give a “subtle, smoky backbone” to the finished product.

Bottled at 43% abv, only 1,000 bottles of Ronnie’s Scotch will be released globally, priced at £75 (US$94) per bottle.

Last year, distillery owner Angus Dundee Distillers released 218 bottles of a 45-year-old Tomintoul single malt for £1,990 (US$2,626), called Tomintoul Vintage 1973 Double Wood Matured.
