Wine & Spirits Show welcomes more than 1,550 guests

A record 1,550 wine and spirits enthusiasts flocked to the Royal Horseguards Hotel in London last weekend for the second Wine & Spirits Show.

The Wine & Spirits Show received a record number of guests to its April 2019 show

A collaboration between The Spirits Business and the drinks business magazines, The Wine & Spirits Show made its debut in London last year.

This year’s event welcomed a total of 300 trade members to One Whitehall Place, part of the five-star Royal Horseguards Hotel, on Friday afternoon (12 April) to peruse and sample myriad wine, spirits and beer brands.

This was followed by no fewer than 1,250 consumers who visited on both Friday and Saturday (13 April).

Both consumer and trade guests were also able to take part in a series of free masterclasses, covering everything from agave-based spirits and award-winning spirit brands, to a showcase of award-winning wines from The Global Masters series and a Champagne Pol Roger tasting.

The Spirits Hall showcased a selection of international brands, including Diablesse Caribbean Rum, De Kuyper’s new Muyu liqueurs range, Aluna Coconut Rum, Mezcal Amores Espadin Reposado, The Glenturret, Weedka Amsterdam Vodka and Laplandia Vodka.

In the Wine Hall, visitors were treated to an assortment of wine and Champagne brands from around the world – including The Apprentice star Jackie Fast’s Canadian Icewine, Rebel Pi.

To top off the weekend’s proceedings, the event also hosted a dedicated Gin & Tonic Bar where visitors were able to sip a complementary G&T made from a choice of leading gin brands.

Amy Hopkins, editor of The Spirits Business magazine, said: “Our second Wine & Spirits Show exceeded all our expectations in terms of not only visitor numbers, but their enthusiasm, engagement and thirst for knowledge.

“The reaction from people who attended The Wine & Spirits Show’s masterclasses and pursued our exhibitors’ stands was testament to the belief that interest in premium alcoholic drinks is higher than ever before.
“We’ve had some great feedback from our exhibitors and guests so far, and can’t wait to put on our next show.”
