Love Drinks brings El Bandarra Vermut to UK

Spanish vermouth El Bandarra Vermut is set to make its debut in the UK after agreeing a distribution deal with Love Drinks.

El Bandarra Vermut hails from Barcelona

The Barcelona-made brand was created by the Virgili brothers, the sixth generation from the Casa Berger Winery, which was established in 1878 to the west of Barcelona.

El Bandarra Vermut is made with locally grown grapes and a selection of native botanicals, using recipes the brothers’ grandparents created in 1962.

The range currently comprises two variants: El Bandarra White and El Bandarra Red.

El Bandarra Red is made with Xarel·lo and Macabeo grapes, which are macerated with 50 herb extracts including cloves, cinnamon and bitter orange. After fortifying the wine, a touch of caramel is added and the liquid is rested in solera oak barrels for two months.

El Bandarra White is made with White Grenache and Xarel·lo grapes, which are macerated with more than 40 herb extracts including vanilla, wormwood and clove. Nectar is added and the vermouth is then rested in a tank for two months.

Both expressions are bottled at 15% abv.

Alex Virgili, El Bandarra Vermut co-founder, said: “Vermouth is an attitude. Chilling out on a terrace and enjoying the good times. That’s El Bandarra style and it’s also the philosophy behind our vermouth.

“Served simply on the rocks like in Barcelona’s bustling tapas restaurants, it is beautifully refreshing, flavoursome and the perfect way of preparing the stomach for food, but it’s also the greatest social lubricant I’ve ever seen.

“El Bandarra combines 57 years of vermouth-making experience with a clear focus to attract new consumers to this incredible drink.”
