Survey: Bars worst place for first dates
Bars and pubs have been revealed as the worst location for a first date with whisky named “the biggest alcoholic turn-off” for women, according to a recent survey.
A third (33%) of Brits named pubs and bars as the worst location for a first dateOnline dating app Plenty of Fish commissioned a survey of 2,000 Britons in June 2018, which asked questions about location, conversation topics and alcohol when it comes to finding love.
The survey found that a third (33%) of Brits named pubs and bars as the worst location for a first date, despite 89% being taken on a ‘pub date’ at least once.
More than a quarter (28%) said that a bad location is a “first date deal-breaker” with the figure increasing to almost half (48%) for “fickle” millennials.
A third (33%) of Brits named alfresco dining as the best location for a first date, with a further 30% choosing a rooftop setting.
Whisky was revealed as “the biggest alcoholic turn-off” for more than a half of women (54%), while men were seen to be “more attractive” by women (60%) if they ordered wine over a pint of beer on a first date.
Bad conversation is also enough to end a date for almost a fifth (18%) of Brits.
A conversation on Brexit is a turn off for a fifth (21%) of Brits, while 65% said being glued to a phone (65%), popping out for a cigarette (31%) and awkward silences (29%) also top the list of “relationship ruiners”.
