Ex-Patrón CEO Ed Brown joins golf equipment company

Former president and CEO of Patrón Spirits International Ed Brown has joined golf equipment company Clear Sports as chairman of its board of directors.

Avid golfer Ed Brown swaps Tequila for golf

Brown, who retired from the Bacardi-owned Tequila producer at the end of December after 20 years in the role, will lead Clear Sports alongside founder and CEO Garry Singer.

Brown stepped into the role of chairman on 1 January 2019. He will continue to provide counsel and expert advice to Patrón Spirits International.

With over 20 years of sales and marketing experience, Brown began his career after undergraduate studies at the University of Texas.

An avid golfer, Brown spent his early years playing tournaments on professional tours. Most recently, Brown played in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland and the Mayakoba Golf Classic in Mexico alongside PGA Tour professionals.

Brown led the “massive expansion” of Patrón Tequila from 118,000 cases sold in 2001 to two million cases a year, establishing the brand as the world’s best-selling ultra-premium Tequila. The brand was sold to Bacardi last year in a deal worth US$5.1 billion.

Florida-based Clear Sports is the producer of Clear golf balls, which are available exclusively to members of the company’s club.
