Buffalo Trace owner Sazerac has named Chris Ritchie as its new chief global business officer with responsibility to drive the group’s “strategic expansion” into new international markets.

Chris Ritchie joins Sazerac from Reckitt Benckiser

Ritchie will join Sazerac on 1 January from consumer goods company Reckitt Benckiser, where he served as general manager of its Philippines unit.

Prior to this, Ritchie worked in a number of executive roles at SABMiller and started his career at Proctor & Gamble. A Canadian native, he holds a bachelor’s degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada.

In his new role, Ritchie will oversee Sazerac’s global business operations, including Paul John Distillers in India and other units in the UK, Ireland and Australia.

The executive will report directly to Sazerac CEO and president Mark Brown.

At the start of this week, Sazerac announced it had purchased 19 brands from Diageo for US$550 million.
