Tamdhu unveils first TR-exclusive whiskies

Ian Macleod Distillers has partnered with Dufry to launch its Tamdhu single malt Scotch brand in UK travel retail.

Tamdhu has launched its Ámbar and Gran Reserva First Edition whiskies with Dufry

The partnership with Dufry has seen the Speyside distillery launch two travel retail-exclusive whiskies, Tamdhu Ámbar and Tamdhu Gran Reserva First Edition.

Matured for 14 years in oloroso Sherry casks, Tamdhu Ámbar carries a recommended retail price of £69.99 (US$92) and is said to have a brilliant amber colour and notes of “raspberry and citrus with toffee, ground malt and gingerbread”.

Tamdhu Gran Reserva First Edition, priced at £149.99 (US$197), has aged in first-fill oloroso Sherry casks to give the whisky a rich mahogany colour and “Sherry sweetness and complex oak, with a tingle of zest, spice and soft fruit”.

Tamdhu launched its Ámbar and Gran Reserva whiskies at Edinburgh Airport this week, they will be available in World of Whiskies and select World Duty Free stores across the UK.

Ian Macleod Distillers’ global travel retail director, William Ovens, said: “We are thrilled to introduce Tamdhu to the travel retail market and to celebrate the launch at Edinburgh International Airport.

“We are equally delighted to be working in close and exclusive partnership with Dufry; the introduction of Tamdhu Ámbar and Tamdhu Gran Reserva is just the start of an exciting journey together. We look forward to consumers tasting this wonderfully complex Sherry cask-matured whisky.”
