Matthew Clark reports spirits volume uplift

National drinks wholesaler Matthew Clark has reported volume uplift across its super-premium spirits range, as the company embarks on its latest Uncovered on-trade event series.

Matthew Clark is embarking on its latest series of Uncovered events off the back of a spirits sales uplift

Gin sales were up 14% in volume in the on-trade year-on-year in 2015, with dark rum sales growing 14%. Matthew Clark says it has brought on 24 new gins and 25 new rums to showcase at the Uncovered event.

Scotch deluxe whiskies saw 7% volume gains over recent months, with 24 new lines bolstering sales.

The sales uplift comes as Matthew Clark announces the latest in its Uncovered series of events.

Uncovered will aim to showcase the company’s range of super-premium spirits, alongside premium wines, beers, ciders and soft drinks.

The latest Uncovered series began in Edinburgh earlier this month, with Matthew Clark reporting a 10% increase in attendees to the event.

Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester will also host events, where Matthew Clark customers can explore products across various zones, including a Gin Garden and Rum Shack.

“Our Uncovered event series is held to highlight our expertise in all categories, not just wine. We offer something for our broad range of customers and we’re returning this year with a bigger and better series than ever before,” said Hannah Atkinson, head of experiential marketing at Matthew Clark.

“We’re hitting the road to showcase the finest spirits, along with over 500 wines and a whole host of premium beers, ciders and soft drinks. The idea of discovering and uncovering new things is not just a theme for these events, it is embedded throughout our entire business, constantly responding to consumer trends to support our customers. We are constantly evolving our range and offer to continually support our customers.”

The Uncovered series is one of the first major campaigns since Mark Aylwin took over as Matthew Clark managing director, effective January 2016.
