Amcor opens closures plant in Scotland

Melbourne-based closure manufacturer Amcor is bringing its bottle closures to Scotland with the opening of a new facility in Alloa.

The Amcor Technical Studio in Scotland will teach consumers new ways to apply closures

The newly opened Amcor Technical Studio will deliver support and product training to distilleries and bottlers across Scotland and the UK.

Olivier Fortun, Amcor Capsules field technical service manager, said: “We’re proud to offer a unique environment solely focused on this vital part of the bottling process.”

“Being centrally located allows us to be active members of the distilling community.”

The new facility will allow consumers to discover advanced methods for applying closures, ensuring a proper seal and avoiding any application errors.

Bottlers and distilleries in the region will be able to take advantage of the laboratory’s capsule and screw cap application testing facilities.

Additionally, an advanced shadowgraph projector will be able to accurately measure capsules, closures and glass to ensure a perfect seal.

Local Amcor technicians will conduct on-site training with producers and will be able to use a company’s bottling line to help ensure a quality seal.

Fortun said: “Crafting spirits and wine remains all about people. This is why we want to be here now – to help ensure that whenever a bottle is opened, the consumer receives all of the time, caring and craft that the distiller and bottlers put into it.”
