Val Mendeleev departs SPI Group

Val Mendeleev, CEO of SPI Group, has departed the company, the Stolichnaya vodka maker has confirmed.

Val Mendeleev has left his role as SPI Group CEO

Mendeleev served as both SPI Group CEO and Stoli Group CEO from November 2008 to February 2015, before focusing solely on his SPI Group role.

He departed the company quietly in August 2015 to pursue private investment opportunities.

Mendeleev was subsequently appointed global operating partner at Bamboo Finance, a private equity firm, in March 2016.

Prior to joining SPI Group, Mendeleev was on the board of directors for a group of premium wine companies, including Ornellaia, Masseto, and Castelgiocondo.

He has also held senior roles at Aviagen, a food science company, Segezha Packaging Group and Korsnas Packaging Group.

Further details of his departure are expected to be released in a Stoli Group statement soon.

Mendeleev spoke to The Spirits Business in 2013 as the company was ramping up its focus on the US market.
