Cocktail Trading Company announces relocation
By Annie HayesBar business The Cocktail Trading Company is set to move out of a “pop-up” site in Soho and open a permanent venue in East London in January 2016.
Cocktail Trading Company Development Bar & Table – set up in January 2015 on an “ongoing” basis – is set to close on January 11, with new “flagship” venue Cocktail Trading Company Brick Lane opening mid-January.
The latest project from bartending trio Andy Mil, Olly Brading and Elliot Ball, the bar is located in a ground floor space on the corner of Brick Lane and Bethnal Green Road.
Cocktail Trading Company Brick Lane will contain a 400-strong back bar, with a focus on unusual and rare spirits from around the world.
The venue will also encompass a bar school and an in-house distillery.
Ball said: “Brick Lane is an immensely vibrant and culturally diverse area; our drinks and service are intended to be playful and interactive, so it’s a real sandbox for us. Plus, most of our mates work nearby!
“We’ll tailor the bar to the area, of course, but our core objectives haven’t changed – great drinks with an emphasis on feel-good feelings, no matter what.”
Described as “the antithesis to many of London’s overpriced cocktails bars”, all cocktails will be priced at £9 and served in “bespoke vessels”.
Examples include APairOTeef, a Pisco and cardamom-pear infusion featuring white balsamic and sparkling wine, served as if it were a water glass “holding nan’s choppers”; Rum Forrest Rum, a combination of aged Colombian rum, chinotto wine and tobacco & rose essence, served as a giant purple sweet; and Bartender’s Cocktail, a mix of Mezcal, vermouth, maraschino, chocolate and ‘mixologist tears’.
