Rémy Martin Louis XIII Cognac fetches $95,000

A rare three-litre jeroboam of Louis XIII de Rémy Martin Cognac has sold at auction for almost US$100,000 – the highest price paid for a decanter of its kind.

A single bottle of Louis XIII de Rémy Martin Cognac has fetched $95,000 at auction

The bottle was sold last week during a charity auction at the 12^th Annual Keep a Child Alive Black Ball Gala, hosted by musician Alicia Keys and comedy actor Chris Rock.

With a starting price of US$15,000, the Baccarat crystal decanter eventually fetched US$95,000, making it the most expensive Louis XIII de Rémy Martin Cognac ever sold.

However, the successful bidder decided to give the money to charity, and gave the decanter to the second highest bidder, who paid US$92,500. As such, Louis XIII raised US$282,500 for the gala.

The unnamed recipient of the decanter has also been invited by Rémy Martin’s cellar master Baptiste Loiseau to visit France’s Cognac region.

Created in partnership with wine and spirits merchant, Sherry-Lehman, the decanter is not currently available to buy in the US.
