Funkin introduces new ‘spiced’ single batch syrup
By Annie HayesCocktail syrup brand Funkin has expanded its range of single batch syrups with the launch of a spiced variant, designed “by bartenders, for bartenders”.
The syrup was created in collaboration with bartenders at last year’s Funkin Innovation ForumNew Funkin Pro Spiced Syrup was created in collaboration with bartenders at last year’s Funkin Innovation Forum, and is the latest addition to the brand’s single batch spirit portfolio of Rhubarb, Ginger, and Earl Grey flavours.
It is described as having a “rich and complex flavour profile, perfect for a wide range of cocktails”, with infusions of nutmeg, cinnamon, star anise, cardamom and cloves.
The Funkin Innovation Forum is an annual industry roundtable hosted by the company to focus on current cocktail trends and discuss the expansion of its portfolio of cocktail mixers, purées and syrups.
Funkin managing director, Andrew King, said: “The Funkin Innovation Forum is another way for us to stay connected with bartenders by giving them the opportunity to sample and feedback on our latest innovations. Our products are made by bartenders for bartenders and we value their opinion.
“Funkin Pro Spiced Syrup is a great example of a product we collaborated with bartenders on. This was first introduced at last year’s forum and after taking feedback on board we now have a premium finished product that fills a clear gap in the on-trade market.”
This year the forum welcomed Andy Mil of The Cocktail Trading Company, consultants at Merlin Griffiths, Michael Butt and Glen Hooper, Vlad Marc of The Ivy, Oskar Kinberg of Oskar’s Bar, Michele Mariotti of Savoy, Loves Company’s Harry Gerakis and Russell Burgess, and Jean-Marc Pothier of Le Hibou in Paris.
Earlier this month Funkin launched a nationwide competition to recruit a new “Innovation Champion” for its product development team, which closes on August 10.
