Five star Athenaeum Hotel creates house whisky

The Athenaeum Hotel, based in Mayfair, London, has launched its own house whiskyThe five star venue, based in Mayfair, has created The Athenaeum Speyside Scotch Whisky for exclusive sale in its Whisky Bar.
Created in collaboration with The Great Whisky Company, the whisky is a blend of predominantly Speyside malts, with an additional Highland whisky that was included to “give an element of spice”.
All whiskies included in the blend have been aged in Bourbon and Sherry casks. The final bottling is described as having a flavour of citrus, toasted oats, honey and nuts.
The Athenaeum Speyside Scotch Whisky is available to buy from the hotel’s Whisky Bar for £130 per 70cl bottle, while 50ml drams are available for £10.
There have been a number of house spirits launched in recent months, one of the most recent of which was 34 Single Malt Scotch Whisky, a 34-year-old expression bottled exclusively for London restaurant 34.
