Restaurants launch London Pisco Sour Week
By Melita KielyPeruvian restaurants in London are joining together to launch London’s very first Pisco Sour Week next month.
The inaugural London Pisco Sour Week will take place in the first week of FebruaryDue to take place from 1-8 February, Peruvian restaurants across the city will be offering special promotions and activities celebrating Peru’s signature cocktail.
The Pisco Sour was first developed in the early 1920s as an alternative to the classic Whisky Sour, and is made using Pisco – a Peruvian spirit made through slow distillation from grape juice, mixed with lime juice, sugar syrup, ice and herbal bitters.
The week-long celebration follows in the footsteps of the National Pisco Sour day, which is celebrated on the first Saturday of February.
“This first activity is part of a comprehensive strategy to enhance the presence of Peru through its gastronomy,” commented Jaime Cárdenas, director of the Peruvian Trade and Investment Office.
“It will bring our friends in London an opportunity to enjoy an assortment of Pisco Sour cocktails.”
Establishments partaking in the event include Peruvian-Nikkei Chotto Matte, Lima Floral, Coya, Senor Ceviche, Pachamama, Tierra Peru and Titos.
Official London Pisco Sour Week wristbands will be available to purchase from the restaurants, enabling guests to enjoy Pisco Sour cocktails all week for £5.
