Little Red Door founders open new Parisian speakeasy

The founders of popular Parisian speakeasy Little Red Door have launched a new venture inspired by an infamous procuress.

Lulu White is the new speakeasy bar from the founders behind Paris’ Little Red Door

Hidden on Rue Frochot in Paris, behind the Little Red Door, the new speakeasy by the Bonomy Group is named after Lulu White – a brothel owner in New Orleans, Lousiana, US, during the Storyville era.

Revered for her legendary “hospitality”, White ran her notorious Mahogany Hall, immortalised by Louis Armstrong’s Mahogony Hall Stomp where clients were invited to indulge in various vices.

The talents of Mark Scott, formerly at Hyde & Co. and Milk Thistle in Bristol, were employed to design the cocktail menu for Lulu White, who was also behind the creations at Little Red Door.

Based on Fée Verte absinthe, the cocktail menu aims to revive the “forgotten period” of the 1860s when the practice of drinking absinthe had become so popular in bars, bistros and cafes that 5pm was dubbed “l’heure verte”.

The drinks aim to explore the journey of mixology by offering classic cocktails that have been modernised with “unique flavours”.

The interior is clad with leather black chairs, intimate booths and mosaic-tiled walls and musical entertainment will combine swing and jazz with electronic French music.
