Pub wins world record for biggest gin variety

An 18th century UK pub has made it into the Guinness World Record books for selling the largest selection of gins.

The Old Bull Inn pub has scooped the Guinness World Record for stocking the largest variety of gin

The Old Bell Inn in Saddleworth, UK, scooped the title for its back bar of 404 different gins from Hendrick’s to Bloom Gin.

Philip Whiteman, pub owner, has been building the collection for more than 10 years, in order to turn the pub into a ‘fully-fledged gin emporium”.

“It’s incredible to think that we have produced something that is unique in the world,” Whiteman told the Manchester Evening News. “We have accomplished something great that our customers can enjoy.”

The certificate, which gives the bar the official title of “the most varieties of gin commercially available”, will be displayed above the bar.

Gin master classes are now being offered to customers once a month.

The title was formerly held by The Feathers Hotel in Oxfordshire, which was awarded the title in 2012 for its collection of 161 different gins.
