New Wild Turkey Diamond Anniversary Bourbon

Wild Turkey Bourbon has released a new limited edition bottling to celebrate the 60-year service of master distiller Jimmy Russell, called Wild Turkey Diamond Anniversary.

Wild Turkey Diamond Edition celebrates the 60-year tenure of Jimmy Russell, the longest-serving master distiller in the world

The brand, owned by Italian drinks group Gruppo Campari, announced plans to launch a series of events this year to mark the life and work of Russell, the longest-tenured active master distiller in the world.

Other planned activity includes the opening of a new visitors’ centre at the distillery, which will include photos and memorabilia from the past 60 years alongside educational tools.

The celebratory Wild Turkey Diamond Anniversary is an exclusive, limited edition mingling of 13-year-old and 16-year-old whiskies hand-selected by Jimmy Russell’s son, Eddie. It is described as having a flavour of caramel, vanilla and a spicy oak finish.

Having started work at the Lawrenceburg-based Wild Turkey Distillery in 1954, Jimmy Russell has created 10 different Bourbons and has been credited with creating the world’s first honey-flavoured Bourbon.

He has been working alongside his son, Eddie, at the distillery for more than 30 years.

“After 60 years of making whiskey, I still love what I do and all the incredible people I’ve had the chance to meet,” said Jimmy Russell. “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, as soon as it feels like work I’ll retire.

“If it hasn’t happened after getting up and driving my Ford pickup over to the distillery about 20,000 times at this point, I don’t think it will be happening anytime soon.”

Wild Turkey Diamond Anniversary, bottled at 45.5% abv, is now available in small quantities across the US.
