Diageo creates new emerging markets MD role

Apurvi Sheth has been appointed to the newly created role of Diageo’s managing director of South East Asia emerging markets and joint venturesSheth joined Diageo in Singapore in 2007 as Innovation Director of Southeast Asia and India following 17 years of commercial, marketing and innovation experience in leading FMCG companies including Coca-Cola and PepsiCo.
In May 2010, she was appointed general manager of innovation for Asia Pacific and a member of the APAC Executive Leadership team.
She will now lead Diageo’s new emerging markets and joint ventures business unit that combines some of Diageo’s existing emerging South East Asia and portfolio business units, including Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, with other emerging markets.
This new appointment marks Diageo’s drive to enhance its presence in the emerging markets, and South East Asia in particular.
“Apurvi’s wealth of experience in emerging markets and her excellent track-record of achievement within Diageo will be of great value as we continue to drive the development of our emerging markets and JVs business,” said Graeme Harlow, Diageo’s managing director for South East Asia.
“I am confident that Apurvi will make a significant contribution to Southeast Asia and help Diageo achieve its ambitious targets.”
