Tomatin to launch first Cù Bòcan limited edition

A rare 1989 vintage of Cù Bòcan Scotch has been vatted from three “forgotten” peated whisky barrels at the Tomatin Distillery and released as a limited edition.

Tomatin Distillery is to release its first limited edition Cù Bòcan Scotch whisky – a 1989 vintage

The new vintage is the first limited edition expression of Cù Bòcan and follows the launch of the Highland distillery’s standard batch Cù Bòcan Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky in September 2013.

Just 1080 bottles of the 1989 vintage, which has been aged for 25 years in Bourbon barrels, will be available worldwide at an RRP of £199.99 per 70cl bottle from 14 April 2014.

Bottled at cask strength of 53.2% abv, the limited edition is described as having an aroma of pear, honey and vanilla, with flavours of blueberry, ginger and clove.

The Cù Bòcan brand is named after a mythical Highland hellhound which was rumoured to haunt the Tomatin Distillery.
